Celebration Program Guidelines for Participating Nonprofit Organizations

 

Step 1: It is encouraged that you attend a Celebration information session prior to submitting an application. Please contact Steviann Martines or Fabiola Dieudonne to find out about an upcoming session.

 

Step 2: If your organization falls within the guidelines below, you may contact Youth, I.N.C. for application materials.

Organizational:

Geographic focus: Must serve youth in New York City

Active 501 (c)(3) status: At least 3 years

Fully operational youth programming in effect: At least 3 years

Budget size: Typical range is $250,000 up to $3 million (not including in-kind contributions)

Events: no other major fundraising events within four months of A Celebration to Benefit New York Kids event (event typically occurs in November or early December)

Staff:

Minimum number of staff: 2

  1. One executive staff person with access to the board of directors and decision-making authority
  2. One administrative staff person with non-programmatic responsibilities, including fundraising, office management, finances, human resources, etc.

Minimum time: 5 hours per week on average all year (varies from 2–10 hours per week depending on time of year)

Supports and strengthens the work of young leaders by helping them gain skills and resources, share strategies, communicate with the international community, bring visibility to their work, respond to crises, and share opportunities.

Board:

Minimum number of board members: 5

Fundraising capabilities: At least one board member who can sell $5,000 sponsorship packages or several board members who can sell $1,000 sponsorship packages

 

Step 3: Complete and mail the application to Youth, I.N.C. for review.

 

Step 4: If your organization is deemed eligible for participation, the following must take place:
  • A Youth, I.N.C. representative must make a site visit to observe your youth program activities
  • A Youth, I.N.C. representative must meet with key staff members and present at a board or fundraising committee meeting
  • Your board must vote and approve participation in the Celebration program

 

Step 5: The board president/chairman and executive director must sign a letter of agreement provided by Youth, I.N.C.
