Net Gain Tournament 2004
Thursday April 1st
5:00PM – 10:00PM

BasketBall City - Pier 63
at West 23rd Street in NYC
The 2004 Net Gain Tournament was our most successful Tournament yet. Corporate sponsors, high school youth, NBA players, and celebrities gathered at BasketBall City on April 1st for an evening filled with challenging competition and excitement. This event raised over $500,000 for Youth, I.N.C. and for the basketball programs of 32 New York City high school teams. Thanks to the support of generous contributors, 400 student athletes will learn and grow on the premier courts of BasketBall City for yet another year.

This year's Tournament was a close one and the stakes were high. Sixteen teams, consisting of corporate and high school players, battled for the coveted title of 2004 Net Gain champions. As if that were not exciting enough, in the middle of the evening, tournament play came to a halt as a team of corporate executives took on NBA legends and celebrities. NBA legends Jonny Newman and Chris Bernard , Channel 11's Marisol Castro, Gerry McCambridge from NBC's The Mentalist, and One Life To Live's Jay Wilkinson teamed up with their coaches Mel Davis, Albert King, and Kym Hampton. The corporate executives were led by NBA Hall-of-Famer Gail Goodrich and boasted executives such as, MidOcean Partners' Ted Virtue, Windspeed Ventures' Dan Bathon, and Rob Berner of Ripplewood Holdings, LLC. Former Knick Greg Anthony and current Knick Dikembe Mutombo cheered the teams on from the sidelines. It was an intense struggle of locker room versus board room that ended in a corporate victory.

By the end of this electrifying evening, the final two corporate/student teams standing were the Citigroup/Child School Team and the White & Case/Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis High School and the High School for Economics and Finance Team. These two remaining teams will have the chance to shine on the courts of Madison Square Garden during halftime of the Knicks' final home game. This decisive game will take place on April 14th and will determine which team will be the 2004 Net Gain champions!
