In partnership with Urban Dove and Basketball City, the Net Gain Program provides court time for high school basketball teams whose schools do not have gymnasiums. The Net Gain Program currently serves 29 basketball teams and, in addition to providing the opportunity to play this sport, athletes and coaches also participate in projects that help improve their communities. As part of the Net Gain Program, the Net Gain Tournament is an exciting night of basketball that brings together corporate sponsors, high school youth, and NBA players to raise funds for Youth, I.N.C. and to provide court time for 29 New York City high school teams.
This year marks the 9th Annual Net Gain Tournament. In the past, NBA players and stars such as Dikembe Mutombo, Allan Houston, Walt Frazier, Jonny Newman, Chris Bernard, Earl "the Pearl" Monroe, John Starks, Charles Smith, Michael Ray Richardson, Dean Meminger, Cal Ramsey and Greg Anthony have scored points for New York youth. Former LA Laker and NBA Hall of Famer, Gail Goodrich, has coached many a Net Gain team to victory. Last year, Youth, I.N.C. honored Sean "P.Diddy" Combs as the 2005 H.O.O.P.S. (Helping Out Our Public Schools) Award recipient.
The excitement continues on April 14th as fans at Madison Square Garden cheer on Youth, I.N.C.'s Night at the Knicks, a 5-on-5 game consisting of Net Gain high school players and corporate executives, played during the Knicks halftime.
