The State of Youth Development NYC 2018
April 18, 2018
Join us on April 18 for The State of Youth Development in NYC 2018: Advancing Impact, Justice and Hope, a convening on current policies, trends, challenges, and opportunities impacting the field of Youth Development in NYC.
This convening has produced, and will continue to incite, powerful, collaborative conversations. With our partners - Algorhythm, CUNY School of Professional Studies, and the Youth Development Institute - a collective of perspectives has emerged focused on breaking unsuccessful patterns, encouraging innovative approaches, and harnessing our collective ambition to enable New York City’s youth to thrive.
Lauren Elicks McCort, Director of Programs, Youth INC
We are delighted to have acclaimed author, professor and activist, Shawn Ginwright, Ph.D., as our keynote speaker. Dr. Ginwright is a national expert on African American youth, youth activism, and youth development, and author of four books including, Hope and Healing in Urban Education.
Youth-workers, funders, public sector partners and academics will engage with ideas and colleagues that bring a variety of perspectives and expertise via TED-style talks and small group strategy sessions. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear how programs in NYC are fostering growth in social and emotional learning by making data-driven decisions based on Algorhythm’s Youth Development Impact System. The event will culminate in a ‘call to action’ for the coming year by juxtaposing the latest research and trend analysis with the lived experience of those most impacted in the field.
