Larry Zimmerman is a Managing Director at Benefit Street Partners. Previously, he was a Managing Director and head of the financial sponsors coverage group at Piper Jaffray. His areas of focus include sellside M&A transactions, public equity offerings and private debt and equity placements across all industry sectors.
Prior to joining Piper Jaffray in 2009, Zimmerman was a managing director and the global co-head of industrials at Deutsche Bank Securities. While at Deutsche Bank, Zimmerman also held executive positions as head of the M&A sell-side advisory group and as a longstanding senior member of the financial sponsor coverage group where he managed Deutsche Bank’s relationships with a number of leading private equity firms. Zimmerman joined Deutsche Bank’s predecessor firm, Bankers Trust, in 1989 and held positions in the leveraged finance group and loan workout group.
Zimmerman serves on the Leadership Council of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Cycle For Survival, an annual national event that has raised more than $75 million for rare cancer research since 2007, and is the Co-Founder of Perry’s Promise Fund, a fund dedicated to research and advanced patient care for retinoblastoma and pediatric brain tumors at MSKCC. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Youth INC.
Zimmerman received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania’s Executive Program.
