RBC's Trade for the Kids Recap

On May 3, 2018, RBC Capital Markets raised $3Million during the first ever global RBC Trade for the Kids—an annual celebration of the company’s culture of philanthropy and volunteerism that benefits over 40 youth-serving charities worldwide.

RBC Trade for the Kids launched in 2015 in New York City in partnership with marquee charity Youth INC, a nonprofit that uses a unique venture philanthropy approach to transform the lives of youth by empowering the nonprofits that serve them. Since then RBC Trade for the Kids expanded to a number of locations across North America and the UK and this year marked the inaugural Global Trade for the Kids, where RBC’s trading locations united on a single day to celebrate the company’s commitment to philanthropy and volunteerism.

21 New York youth-serving charities in addition to Youth INC received funds from RBC Trade for the Kids this year.

“When you have an engaged workplace that cares about giving back, not only can you accomplish so much in the community, but you build a culture and a brand you are proud to be a part of,” explains Matthew Stopnik, Managing Director and Co-Head of US Financial Sponsor Coverage Group at RBC Capital Markets and Youth INC Board member.

As part of RBC Trade for the Kids in New York City, Youth INC visited RBC’s trading floor with partner Saint Barnabas High School and 25 of their freshmen, sophomores and juniors from the North Bronx, who toured the trading floor to learn about the financial services sector, and sit with traders to talk through their own career paths. In addition to Saint Barnabas, Youth INC partners with 79 other youth-focused nonprofits to transform the lives of over 220,000 NYC kids.

RBC’s Global Trade for the Kids day also marked Youth INC’s inaugural “Champion for Children” award, which was bestowed on Bobby Grubert, RBC Head of Equities. Grubert made a commitment to Youth INC in 2015 to move the needle on improving the lives of kids. Three years later, RBC announced they have committed $19Million worldwide to make this happen.

“There is no one who deserves this honor more than Bobby Grubert” says Youth INC Executive Director, Rehana Farrell. “A Youth INC Champions for Children is someone who says they will make a change, and they follow through, with a team supporting them. This award exemplifies Bobby Grubert.”

RBC and Youth INC will continue to celebrate, honor and raise funds for youth in NYC on Saturday, September 22, at RBC Race for the Kids, benefitting Youth INC and six other youth-serving charities. https://youthinc.rbcraceforthekids.com
