Sandy Cockrell III is the National Managing Partner, U.S. CFO Program, based in the New York National Office of Deloitte LLP. He also serves as Global Leader of the CFO Program for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL), Deloitte’s global organization. The CFO Program enables Deloitte to achieve its strategic vision “to be recognized as the pre-eminent advisor to the CFO.” Its mission is to help Deloitte’s lead client service partners (LCSPs) and engagement teams develop and sustain deep advisory relationships with the CFOs of key clients by providing cross-functional service delivery support, training and intellectual capital. He also currently serves as Advisory Partner to several of the firms’ largest clients.
Prior to leading the CFO Program, Sandy was the lead partner of the New York office of Deloitte’s Special Acquisition Services (SAS) group, which primarily serves one of the world’s leading alternative asset management firms in a variety of acquisitions, disposition and restructuring transactions. The SAS group is comprised of accounting, consulting and tax professionals in New York, San Francisco, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and various other offices around the world.
Sandy served on the Board of Directors of DTTL and participated on the Membership Affairs and Board Composition Committees. He has also been a member of Deloitte’s Americas’ Services Council. Certain of Sandy’s prior responsibilities include serving on the firm’s Tax Partner Admissions Committee, U.S. Nominating Committee, Global Nominating Committee, National Tax Recruiting Committee and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Task Force. He served as a member and Vice Chairman of the firm’s U.S. Board of Directors where he chaired the Evaluation, Governance and Special Committees and served on the Risk and Structure Committees. He acted as Co-Dean of the organization’s National M&A and Strategic Tax Conferences. He has made numerous presentations to internal and external groups regarding technical tax matters relating to M&A transactions and a broad range of CFO related issues. He has served as the Lead Tax Partner on a number of the firm’s largest clients.
Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, Sandy earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and currently serves on the Institute of Arts & Humanities Advisory Board and the Board of Visitors. He previously served as the New York Area Representative and Second Vice-Chair for the General Alumni Association.
He is a frequent contributor to news organizations including The Wall Street Journal, Business Finance, CFO Magazine, and Forbes regarding issues facing CFOs. He has also made numerous appearances on CNBC, Fox Business Network and Bloomberg TV discussing the firm’s views on matters relating to financial executives.
