Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
Leading scholars agree that Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is just as important as content knowledge to long-term youth outcomes in academics, careers, and life. In fact, SEL has been demonstrated to be the foundation for several critical capacities that prepare young people to set their own goals and achieve them.
Many individuals and organizations are beginning to recognize these core benefits and are discussing incorporating SEL into their work, but Youth INC has been at the vanguard of this movement for decades and we continue to prove its value every day with our nonprofit partners. A survey of our network found that 83% of youth served experienced statistical growth in 3 or more SEL outcomes critical to long-term thriving.
In a rapidly changing world, where the jobs and industries of the future are not yet known, it is essential that young people be engaged in the deep learning that will allow them to exert agency over their lives. This is why investment in SEL has proven to be one of the most efficacious and cost-effective interventions in youth development. At Youth INC, we work with our 80+ nonprofit partners to foster these foundational abilities in the 200,000+ youth they serve.
