Young Audiences New York's mission is to use art, in all its forms, as a catalyst for exploring creativity and advancing equity among youth, families, and communities in New York City.
You Gotta Believe strives to find adoptive parents for young adults, teens, and pre-teens before they age out of the foster care system and run the extremely high risk of becoming homeless. People interested in adopting are invited to a 10-week parenting course to help figure out if a lifetime family commitment to the teen is something they are ready to do. You Gotta Believe is the only organization in the U.S. that solely limits its practice to finding young adults, teens, and pre-teens in the foster care system permanent parents and families.
Trail Blazers facilitates the development of values and life skills in thousands of urban youth through outdoor experiential education, year-round mentoring, and leadership training. The award-winning educational programs counteract the risk of school failure common among low-income and minority students. While at the 1,000-acre campsite in New Jersey, children develop confidence and independence. Programs rely on a non-competitive, education-based framework where children live, work, and play in small groups.
The New York Center for Children is a child-friendly Center providing free, comprehensive evaluation and therapy services to victims of child abuse and their families. NYCC also offers professional training on the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of child abuse. In addition to evaluation and treatment, the children at NYCC also benefit from tutoring, mentoring and extracurricular events.
The Arthur Project’s mission is to create a replicable model that professionalizes traditional mentoring by using clinically-focused mentors to work intensely with youth and their families throughout middle school. Minds Matter of NYC transforms the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success. Minds Matter targets students who are among the top academic performers in their class but attend struggling high schools with little college application guidance. By working with their mentors and attending top-tier summer programs, Minds Matter students gain academic and social enrichment, while building their college knowledge.
MindLeaps provides youth development dance programming to improve children’s academic outcomes and ability to make positive life decisions.
INCLUDEnyc brings love, equity, and access to young people with disabilities in New York City by providing them and their families with the resources and support they need. We give families with children and young people from birth to 26 with any disability the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to make informed decisions, effectively access and navigate systems and services, and the ability to advocate for themselves and other young people.
The Fiver Children’s Foundation is a comprehensive youth development organization that makes a 10-year commitment to children from underserved communities throughout New York City and central New York. Through character-building summer and year-round out-of-school time programs, Fiver empowers children to make ethical and healthy decisions, to become engaged citizens, and to succeed in school, careers, and life.
